Head of QA

About the Role

Join us to lead quality engineering for the world’s largest community-based navigation app and its complex ecosystem of web and mobile services. Our apps handle information at massive scale, serving over 100 million active users worldwide.

As Head of QA, you will play a high-impact leadership role shaping our long-term technical QA strategy, driving the integration of AI-powered testing solutions, and establishing operational transparency across a large, distributed engineering organization. Partnering with our QA Project Manager and dedicated Squad Leads, you will lead our core domain anchors across Automation, Releases, AI Test Flows, and People Development.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic QA Leadership: Define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy aligned with business goals, engineering objectives, and business-wide OKRs/KPIs.

• AI & Automation Innovation: Lead the adoption of AI-powered testing solutions, modern QA automation frameworks, and scalable quality engineering practices across multiple products.

• Team Management & Growth: Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed QA organization (including QA Leads and Quality Engineers), owning the hiring strategy, succession planning, and talent development.

• Process & Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in testing cycle times, operational efficiency, testing methodologies, and release readiness.

• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Delivery leadership to manage quality risks, enforce standards, and ensure high-quality software releases.

• Technical Escalation: Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical, organizational, and quality-related challenges.

What We’re Looking For

• Location: Based in Warsaw, Poland (or willing to relocate) for a full-time, office-based role.

• Domain Experience: 8+ years of total experience in Software Quality Assurance, with 4+ years leading QA teams in a product environment.

• Scale & Scope: Proven track record of managing large QA organizations (20+ engineers), including direct management of QA Leads.

• Strategy & Process: Demonstrated ability to define organizational QA strategy, quality standards, and modern Quality Engineering practices.

• AI Knowledge: Good understanding of AI applications in software testing and a track record of evaluating or adopting AI-driven QA solutions.

• Technical & SDLC Mastery: Deep understanding of the full SDLC, Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and software testing best practices.

• Languages: Fluent in both English (C1/C2) and Ukrainian (C1/C2).

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and QA architecture.

• Experience validating AI-based products or LLM-powered applications.

• Exposure to cloud platforms, distributed systems, or performance/security/reliability testing.

• ISTQB certification or equivalent.
