About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys designing and building business-critical systems at scale.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of backend architecture from design through production. You’ll solve complex engineering challenges, build scalable services, and help shape technical decisions while working closely with Product, Frontend, and Platform teams.

Location: Warsaw (100% office-based)

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and background processing systems.
• Translate high-level business requirements into practical technical solutions and architectural decisions.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle, ensuring reliability, observability, scalability, and performance in production.
• Design robust data models, service boundaries, and scalable system architectures.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and platform teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Improve engineering productivity through AI-powered development tools, automation, and internal tooling.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical leadership.

What We’re Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven senior-level experience building and maintaining production backend systems.
• Strong Python development skills with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, including concurrency, asynchronous processing, fault tolerance, data consistency, and service architecture.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong experience designing database schemas and optimizing performance for real-time, high-throughput applications.
• Security-first mindset with experience building enterprise-grade systems that handle sensitive data.
• Ability to take ownership of projects from initial design through deployment and ongoing production support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs clearly.
• Experience using AI development tools and modern engineering workflows to improve productivity and software quality.

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following will be considered an advantage:

• Building AI-powered or agentic systems, including AI agents, LLM orchestration, retrieval pipelines, or tool-calling frameworks.
• TypeScript and the ability to contribute across the full technology stack.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers without formal management responsibilities.
