Chief Technology Officer

 

The Role

We’re seeking a full-time Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to serve as a hands-on executive leader responsible for the company’s technology vision, execution, and engineering operations. In this role, you will own our technology strategy end-to-end—translating business goals into reliable, secure, and scalable systems while leading high-performing teams across multiple geographies.

You will be stepping into a platform that already features a live, revenue-generating customer base, a modern architecture, and a maturing security posture with a successful SOC 2 audit.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Architecture

• Technical Vision: Own the long-term technical vision, architecture, and technology roadmap for FCA.

• Scalability: Ensure the platform scales securely across all customers, projects, and devices.

• Decision Leadership: Lead critical architectural decisions regarding cloud infrastructure, data models, integrations, and access-control logic.

• Pragmatic Innovation: Balance the need for innovation with operational stability in a safety-critical environment.

   

Engineering & Delivery Leadership

• Team Growth: Lead and scale our engineering, QA, architecture, and technical ops teams.

• Alignment: Partner with Product, Operations, and Customer teams to ensure technology delivery meets real-world job-site needs.

• SDLC Excellence: Establish and continuously improve SDLC, release management, and quality practices to ensure predictable delivery.

   

Security, Compliance & Risk

• Security Posture: Own FCA’s overall security and compliance posture, including SOC 2 and internal security reviews.

• Policy Evolution: Maintain and evolve policies for encryption, data ownership, auditability, and access control.

• Risk Management: Partner with leadership and external auditors on risk management and compliance.

   

Infrastructure & Reliability

• Uptime & Recovery: Own cloud infrastructure, monitoring, disaster recovery, and high availability for live construction sites.

• Operational Excellence: Drive incident management and continuous improvement through postmortems.

• Hardware Oversight: Take technical responsibility for FCA’s fleet of field hardware, including turnstiles, portals, and handheld devices.

   

Leadership & Collaboration

• Executive Team: Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO, CPO, and CSO on company strategy.

• Representation: Confidently represent the company’s technology vision to customers, partners, and auditors.

• Culture: Build an engineering culture grounded in pragmatism, accountability, and continuous learning.

Ideal Background

• Experience: 15+ years of software engineering and technical leadership experience.

• Leadership: Prior experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or senior technical leader within a SaaS company.

• Technical Depth: Strong background in cloud-native systems, modern APIs, and secure architectures.

• Stack: Experience with modern web and mobile stacks, preferably React, React Native, and .NET.

• Compliance: Hands-on experience managing security, compliance, and audits.

• Distributed Teams: Proven success leading distributed teams across multiple geographies.

• Environment: Comfortable operating in regulated, operationally critical environments.
