Senior Software Engineer (Shopify+React)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Shopify+React) to design and document complete end-to-end technical architectures for both new and existing Shopify Plus stores. You will lead decisions on “build vs. buy vs. extend” within the Shopify ecosystem and implement modern commerce patterns, including headless and composable commerce.

What You’ll Do

• Architectural Design: Design storefront architectures (headless or theme-based), backend services, and integration strategies while ensuring security.
• Theme & Storefront Development: Build and maintain complex custom themes using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript or React.
• Custom App Development: Integrate, build, and maintain custom Shopify applications (private or public).
• Advanced Customization: Implement advanced Shopify features such as Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensibility, and Checkout UI extensions.
• Flow Optimization: Customize checkout, cart, and product flows for conversion optimization and analytics.
• System Integration: Lead and manage integrations with ERP, PIM, OMS systems, and payment gateways.
• Collaboration: Partner with product managers, stakeholders, and designers to drive enhancements.

Who You Are

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in e-commerce solution architecture or technical consulting, with at least 3 years focused on Shopify.
• Platform Expertise: Strong knowledge of Shopify Plus, admin features, Liquid templating, and the app ecosystem.
• Headless Specialist: Experience with headless Shopify architectures, including Hydrogen/Oxygen implementations.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Shopify REST and GraphQL APIs, and modern web technologies such as React/Next.js.
• Communicator & Thinker: Excellent communication skills, structured problem-solving approach, and critical thinking.

Nice-to-Haves

• Shopify Certification or other relevant e-commerce platform certifications.
• Experience in re-platforming from legacy systems.
• Familiarity with back-end languages such as Node.js or Ruby.
