Solutions Architect – Shopify

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect – Shopify to join our team. In this role, you will design, document, and implement end-to-end technical architectures for new and existing Shopify stores, with a focus on Shopify Plus.

About the Role

This position requires proven expertise with the Shopify platform, its administrative features, Liquid templating, and the broader Shopify app ecosystem. As the trusted technical advisor to client executives (CTO, CIO) and technical teams, you will provide strategic guidance on architectural design and solution delivery for enterprise-grade Shopify implementations.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Design: Design and document complete end-to-end technical architectures for Shopify (primarily Shopify Plus) stores — including storefront design (headless or theme-based), backend services, integration strategy, and security.

• System Integration: Architect and develop complex integrations between Shopify and enterprise systems such as ERP, OMS, PIM, WMS, CRM, and CDP, leveraging REST and GraphQL APIs.

• Development & Customization: Develop, customize, and maintain high-quality Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript (React or other modern JS frameworks).

• Custom App Development: Build and maintain custom Shopify applications (private or public), implementing advanced features through Shopify Functions and Checkout Extensibility.

• Client Consulting: Collaborate with Sales and Delivery teams to provide technical vetting, solution scoping, effort estimation, and client-facing presentations.

• Standards & Quality: Ensure adherence to development standards, security practices, and maintainable coding practices across all projects.

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in e-commerce solution architecture or technical consulting, with at least 3 years focused on Shopify.

• Shopify Expertise: Deep knowledge of Shopify Plus, Liquid templating, and the Shopify app ecosystem.

• Headless Architecture: Proven experience with headless Shopify architectures, including Hydrogen/Oxygen.

• APIs & Web Technologies: Strong hands-on experience with Shopify’s REST and GraphQL APIs, as well as modern web frameworks such as React/Next.js.

• App Development: Experience developing custom Shopify apps and using Shopify Functions and Checkout UI Extensions.

• Enterprise Integration: Experience integrating Shopify with back-office systems (ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM).

• Frameworks: Familiarity with Microsoft Entity Framework or equivalent ORM frameworks.

• Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative, systematic approach to technical challenges.

Nice-to-Haves

• Shopify Certification or equivalent e-commerce platform certifications.

• Experience re-platforming from legacy systems.

• Familiarity with backend languages such as Node.js or Ruby.
