Android Software Engineer

About the Role

As an Android Software Engineer, you will own the Android client experience, shaping how AI feels, behaves, and performs on mobile devices. This is not a thin client role—you will build and maintain a production-grade Android application where AI interactions are central to the product experience. Performance, reliability, security, and clarity are essential to everything you build.

Core Focus & Responsibilities

• Application Development: Build and maintain high-quality, production-grade Android applications using Kotlin.
• AI Feature Integration: Integrate AI-powered features, including chat, vision, voice, and recommendations, through backend APIs.
• AI UX Design: Design intuitive UX patterns for AI interactions, including streaming responses, retries, error handling, and partial results.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize application performance, memory usage, responsiveness, and resource consumption across AI-intensive workflows.
• Observability & Feedback: Implement analytics, logging, monitoring, and feedback mechanisms to support AI evaluation and continuous product iteration.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with backend and ML engineers on API contracts, system behavior, and end-to-end product functionality.
• Production Stability: Ensure application stability, security, scalability, and reliability across production environments.

What We’re Looking For

• Core Android Experience: 3+ years of professional Android development experience using Kotlin, with a proven track record of shipping and maintaining production applications available on the Google Play Store.
• AI Integration: Hands-on experience integrating AI-powered features, such as LLMs, computer vision, or speech APIs, into mobile applications.
• Asynchronous Programming: Strong understanding of asynchronous programming with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• API Integration: Familiarity with REST and/or gRPC APIs, structured data formats, and reliable client-server communication.
• Profiling & Debugging: Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
• Resilience Mindset: Comfortable building applications that account for latency, partial failures, unreliable connectivity, and non-deterministic AI behavior.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ML Kit or exposure to on-device machine learning and inference.
