Senior Technical Product Owner

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Product Owner to own the product backlog, functional roadmap, and domain direction of a mission-critical, 24/7 real-time security control platform used by a major European public transport network. In this role, you will lead the greenfield redevelopment of a legacy system that has been in use for decades, transforming it into a resilient, highly available web platform capable of handling real-time alarm peaks, coordinating incident workflows across multiple organizations, and integrating GIS mapping, radio communications, and browser-based video.

Key Responsibilities

• Backlog Ownership and Product Discovery: Own and manage the product backlog, functional roadmap, and domain direction throughout the entire product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements definition to user acceptance testing (UAT) and production releases.
• Specification and Edge Case Definition: Translate complex operational workflows, incident lifecycles, and business rules into clear, developer-ready specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflow diagrams.
• Stakeholder and Operator Collaboration: Lead discovery workshops with control-room operators and domain experts, clarify ambiguous requirements, challenge assumptions, and make pragmatic product decisions based on operational needs and business priorities.
• Engineering and API Contract Alignment: Collaborate closely with Java/Spring Boot backend engineers, React/TypeScript developers, and QA specialists to align business logic, define frontend/backend responsibilities, and establish explicit REST API data contracts.
• AI-First Delivery and Validation: Leverage AI-assisted, specification-driven workflows to accelerate product discovery, explore edge cases, draft acceptance criteria, and improve backlog quality. Validate delivered functionality with real-world users to ensure it meets operational requirements.

Product and Technical Environment

• Core Technology Stack: Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, event-driven architecture, GIS mapping, and browser-based video.
• Development and Delivery Approach: AI-first, specification-driven development with clearly defined data and interface contracts, supported by nightly automated test runs.
• Product Ownership Toolkit: Daily use of Jira, Confluence, Notion, Miro, Excalidraw, Figma, Postman, and AI-powered tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
• Operational Context: A high-availability, real-time security platform designed to process critical alarms and support coordinated incident management across multiple organizations.

Required Profile and Qualifications

• Professional Experience: 8+ years of commercial experience working with complex software products, including substantial hands-on experience as a Technical Product Owner or in a product-focused Business Analyst role.
• Enterprise Software Expertise: Proven experience owning complex custom enterprise platforms involving real-time workflows, deep system integrations, or multi-organization role-based access control.
• Technical Understanding: Strong understanding of modern web architecture, including frontend/backend boundaries, REST APIs, JSON, relational databases and SQL, role-based access control, and event-driven processing.
• Technical Investigation Skills: Ability to use browser developer tools and Postman to investigate application behavior, analyze API responses, and support functional troubleshooting.
• Language Proficiency: Bilingual fluency in French and English, with a C1 level required in both languages.
• AI Tooling Proficiency: Active daily use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to accelerate specification drafting, scenario analysis, acceptance criteria definition, and backlog refinement.
• Product Ownership and Communication: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to bridge operational stakeholders, product teams, and software engineers.

• Relevant Domain Experience: Previous experience in public transport, the public sector, security control rooms, real-time event processing, GIS mapping, or video integration.
• Industry Certifications: Professional certifications such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent qualifications.
