Your Role as VP of Engineering

In this multifaceted role, you will play a pivotal part in:

Leadership and Strategy:

• Setting the direction and vision for our engineering team, aligning it with our company’s overall objectives.
• Collaborating with key stakeholders to define our technical roadmap and ensure alignment with our business goals.
• Providing technical expertise and guidance to our team, shaping the use of technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and fostering continuous improvement.

Team Management:

• Attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.
• Mentoring and inspiring engineering managers and technical leads.
• Promoting effective collaboration between teams to achieve shared goals.

Technical Excellence:

•  Staying updated on the latest technologies and industry trends.
• Driving growth and operational efficiency.
• Promoting code reviews and best practices in software development.

Collaboration with Support:

• Working closely with our Technical Support team to understand customer needs and improve execution.

Collaboration with Business:

• Delivering valuable and marketable products.
• Evaluating opportunities for new app creation or acquisition.
• Budget management for engineering projects.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

• Identifying and mitigating potential technical risks.
• Proactive risk management to prevent costly issues.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborating with Business and Technical Support teams to understand customer needs and contribute to product strategy.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensuring adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements.
• Implementing robust testing processes and quality assurance measures.

Innovation and Research:

• Encouraging innovation within the engineering team.
• Supporting research and development efforts.

Security and Compliance:

• Ensuring adherence to best practices for data security and regulatory compliance.

Scaling and Growth:

• Planning and executing strategies to scale the engineering team and processes.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in software engineering and development.
• Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Expertise in Laravel, PHP 8, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Detail-oriented and adept at debugging.
• Proficiency in automated testing.
• Experience with modern UI frameworks.
• Familiarity with AWS products.
• Knowledge of the Shopify API or app development is a plus.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A passion for innovation and continuous learning.
