Role Overview:
As the Lead PHP Developer, you will spearhead a team responsible for the entire software development lifecycle – from initial specifications to development, testing, and delivery. Your work will contribute to the creation of software with a tangible impact on the global sports industry.
Essential Skills:
- 5+ years of experience working with large-scale systems and handling high traffic.
- 5+ years leading and managing a development team.
- Thorough knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with MVC frameworks (Laravel) and JavaScript frameworks (Vue, React).
- Expertise in API development (JSON, REST, SOAP).
- Knowledge of standard development cycles (Agile/FDD/TDD).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Knowledge of virtualization or development containers (e.g., Docker).
- Passion for sports and entertainment.
- Avid social media user.
- Previous experience with social media and streaming platforms.
- Experience handling large amounts of data and addressing scalability issues.
Responsibilities:
- Building and leading a team of engineers.
- Management and pruning of the Git repository.
- Enforcing company development standards (e.g., PSR’s, repo management).
- Collaborating with the Product Director on technical scoping of specifications, features, and functionalities.
- Working with in-house UX/UI and DevOps teams.

We are the technology arm of the group, dedicated to developing and licensing software for global sports brands. Our headquarters are in Liverpool, UK, with a hybrid working model that encourages collaboration across international teams.
Working Hours:
9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with 25 days of leave plus bank holidays.
